A Syrian Coastal LNG Hub for Regional Gas Trade

Strategic LNG Opportunity on Syria’s Mediterranean Coast Syria’s Mediterranean coastline offers a highly strategic location for the development of a new LNG terminal capable of both liquefaction (gas-to-LNG) and regasification (LNG-to-gas). This paper proposes a phased development approach for a terminal with a capacity of 2 to 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Such a facility would serve as a critical node for enhancing Gulf ans Syrian Gas export flexibility toward Europe, supplying gas to Syria and Lebanon, and reinforcing regional energy security in the Eastern Mediterranean.
