A concept note proposes a seawater reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plant on Syria’s Mediterranean coast, designed to supply potable water via pipeline to inland cities. The note outlines the technical design, optimal capacity, comparable regional projects, cost estimates, financial viability, and key considerations for implementation. The evaluation considers two energy supply options for powering the plant – a gas-fired power source versus a hybrid renewable approach – to identify the most feasible and sustainable model.
